When the church elders took your mentor's body to the Furnace to be purified, you snuck in and stole it back, just so he'd get a proper burial in the Keija fashion. It was not his fault he was misled, after all. You dug an eight-feet deep hole in the Necropolis yourself (no easy feat at ten years) and propped up a makeshift marker where you buried him, so that you could find him again when it would be time to complete his Soul Rites.\n\nNow, it is Time.
The Last Rites of Doctor Wu
With no small pleasure, you pound the Sphere with your hammer again and again until it falls apart into a million glittering pieces. They shower the ground before the grave, memories passing through your mind all the while...\n\n//"We won't have a Daughter of the Intellect taking the path of a mere //Doctor//," says the High Priestess Ki, in her grand theatrical fashion.\n\n"She doesn't want the Chromacy, Your Excellency," cries Wu, shielding you behind him. "With all due respect, can't you just bend the rules here, just this once?"\n\n"You've broken the rules here a few many times too often, Doctor," she sniffs. "Don't make this the time it breaks you." She then wrestles you from his grasp and drags you to your room.\n\n"Take better note of the Testament Sphere in your room, acolyte Ka," she says to you just outside your door. "It will help you better avoid trouble in your future."//\n\n<<if visited("Motor")>>You've gave up all you can. There's nothing left but to complete the LastRite.<<else>>Motor (the first machine he showed you how to use)<<endif>>
This is a fangame based on the Blameless Steel webcomic by Rue and Queue. Specifically it's a response to princexmum's excellent Iron-Blooded fangame based on the same, about a gruff, takes-no-prisoners doctor named Ka from the Keija religious cult. You should definitely play that game before my mine ==because it's way better== because it explains what's going on.\n\nWhen I saw princexmum listing Blameless Steel as one of their fandoms for Fannish Gifts, how could I not write them a fangame of my own based on their delightful Iron-Blooded? But, er, I got a little sidetracked during the month, so I was only able to cobble up this short thing. Sorry.
Tombstones catch the moonlight like marble bowls. They light a path for you above treacherous roots and below snarling branches. After an hour's turning, you arrive at the spot where you last left off.\n\nLongTime
Let's start at the Begin.
You crack the iron plating of the Motor with a strong set of pliers. Carefully you pour out the elemental energies within on the grave. As they seep through, memories pass through your mind...\n\n//You stare at the man fixing the strange machine with some interest. His robes lack the copper tassels of a Keija accolyte, but also the chrome fringe that signifies a member of the Higher Priesthood. An interested layperson, perhaps?\n\nSuddenly, he turns to you and smiles. "Didn't know you were here," he says. "Need anything?"\n\nYou break your gaze away from him and towards the machine. Its glass chambers expose some kind of strange, glowing fluid.\n\n"Oh, interested in this old thing?" he asks. "It's just something High Priest Du needs for his new prothesis."\n\n"Can you show me how it works?" you timidly ask.\n\nHe winks at you. "That, and a few things elsewise."//\n\n<<if visited("Sphere")>>You've gave up all you can. There's nothing left but to complete the LastRite.<<else>>Sphere (the rules he broke for you etched in chrome and aetherite)<<endif>>
You gather up the ritual parts in front of the grave in a row. It doesn't really matter which one you start with, but maybe it'll make a difference for you.\n\nWhich part do you want to Invoke first?\n\nMotor (the first machine he showed you how to use)\nSphere (the rules he broke for you etched in chrome and aetherite)

Above the ruins of the invoked parts, you hum a simple prayer for rebirth into a new, better life. It's not as satisfying as you hoped it would be, but at least there's closure. You turn away from Doctor Wu's grave and head back towards your mechanicad.\n\nTHE END\n\n(Read what this is all About?)
